About Us
W. Hideaway Lounge was founded in 1984 by Mr. Willie G. He was a dreamer, entrepreneur, and a man deeply rooted in Chicago’s Southside. What began as his personal passion has now grown into a rare legacy in the African American business community, one that has proudly continued for more than four decades and is one of the oldest Black-owned bars in Chicago.
In 2018, his daughter became owner and operator, determined not only to preserve what her father built, but to elevate it. With renovations, a refreshed atmosphere, and a sexier, modern aesthetic, she continues to honor her father’s vision while shaping it for a new generation of mature nightlife.
Our mission is simple: bring a downtown-Chicago experience to the South Side that’s stylish, safe, and sophisticated. W. Hideaway Lounge is for those who work hard and deserve to celebrate their hard work. From smooth cocktails and community events to karaoke nights and DJs that keep the room alive, W. Hideaway Lounge remains a place where grown folks can unwind, connect, and enjoy themselves.
